Dear Reader,
Our family just returned from a long weekend away in celebrating the 4th of July. My husband, son, and I spent last evening with my in-laws who hadn't seen their dear grandson in a week and who could not get over the number of times the question "why?" is now inserted into conversation.
My son is very curious about how things work. Why does a hummingbird drink water from a feeder [and not birdseed]? Why do babies cry? Why is it OK that David threw stones at Goliath? These are not easy questions to answer. While I'm not afraid to respond by saying that I don't know, my little boy find little satisfaction with that answer.
I feel that my previous work in HR somewhat prepared me for the ongoing questions, especially in trying to find tactful answers. And yet, I'm often caught off guard by the level of perceptiveness and persistence that this boy of mine possesses. I imagine that these questions will continue for a while, and I hope I have the stamina to keep up.
Sincerely,
Abi
