Dear Reader,
Recently, my son has developed a habit of coming up to me and saying, "Here are a few clues..." or "I have a tricky question." I then begin the guessing game of trying to determine what this dear three year old is considering. Here are some examples.
My son: "I am thinking of a fruit that has water in it."
Abi: "Watermelon?"
My son: "Yes, may I have some?"
-----
My son: "I am thinking of a place where there is food and some puzzles on the first floor. Upstairs they have bubbles and mini golf. Where could it be?"
Abi: "Are you thinking of the Children's Museum?"
My son: "Yes, let's go there!"
As you can see, these clues are quite strategic. He's learned that the answer isn't always "yes" when he asks direct questions. Perhaps by being a bit vague I will be tricked into going along with his plan? Maybe. But actually I think he just enjoys asking questions that lead to a bit of a surprise at the end. It's sort of like hide and seek for conversations. Fun!
Sincerely,
Abi
