This weekend I enjoyed sitting back and listening to a conversation between my dad and my husband about the odd jobs that each of them had tried out during their young adulthood. (My teenage jobs seemed so normal in comparison to some of the work these two did at one time.) Both of them started working at a young age, and here is a sampling of the jobs they discussed with one another:
delivering holiday circulars to all of the residents of his hometown (for $2)
picking blueberries ($0.25 per pound picked)
fork lift driving (both of them exchanged stories about this)
rearranging trash in a dumpster
washing semi-trucks
bar-tending (while in Seminary!)
mowing a homeowner's personal driving range

My favorite of all the jobs mentioned: updating the daily prayer line at the college library. Yes, my dad would read a prayer to create a recorded message for any callers. I'm curious how often people called in to listen to these prayers!
I found it so interesting to hear the stories of these two men. I hope to ask this question more often in conversation as I find it so fun to hear about work experiences! So, readers, any interesting jobs to share?
Sincerely,
Abi
