Dear Reader,
My husband is an engineer, and he and I both suspect that my son may follow in his footsteps someday. This past Saturday morning we were all up by 6:30 a.m. While I stood by the coffee making waiting for it to finish dripping (I hope I'm not the only person who does this!), my son was chatting away and asking me to turn on the facet to the kitchen sink to inspect how the pipes were functioning below.
The latest "fun" that has come to our three and a half year old is a pulley system designed by his dad. My husband rigged up a structure that attached to our staircase railing, allowing a pulley system to go from our main floor to the basement. One end of the rope has a green plastic sand bucket attached, and the other end has a lightweight plastic ball.
My son loved checking out how a pulley works. And then came the request to send down snacks via the pulley system. What all ended up in the bucket? Crackers. Fruit snacks. Grapes. Raisins. And the list went on.
I am grateful for my husband who so gets what our boy would enjoy, and I'm entirely up for them to have "boys time" to do their engineering.
Sincerely,
Abi
