My husband, son, and I recently went on a getaway to the northern part of our fair state. We really enjoyed the change of pace, especially at the end of winter.
The town that we stayed in is a frequent destination for us, and each time we go there we manage to take a different route. I'm not sure why we struggle to just stick with one set of directions, but we do. My husband and I have the same conversation on the trip each time. Much of the drive is deep in the country, and so I always start by saying, "I wonder what these people do for a living and how far they need to drive for groceries."
On this trip we happened to spot some particularly interesting signs. We headed up mid-morning and had hoped to eat lunch when we arrived, but decided our boy was ready for lunch along the way. We picked up sandwiches in a town that has about 500 residents, but the barbershop next door to the luncheon spot had reserved parking. I took a photo of the barbershop signage:
Then we continued on our trip, passing Nimrod Road close to our hotel. I couldn't imagine having to give directions to my home and saying, "We live at 123 Nimrod Road." We passed by a church where the church's name and denomination were followed by the words "upper room prayer furnace." True story. And finally, we came upon two other barbershops in the town where we vacationed - Bo Tangles and The Hair Shack.
We had a few really good laughs from the peculiar signage discovered along the way. Definitely worth a mention.
Sincerely,
Abi
