Lambs and Tractors

Dear Reader,

My husband's roommate from his freshman year of college was a great match for my husband during his transition to college, and these guys ended up as roommates throughout their college experience. He was an usher in our wedding, and we've seen each other from time to time over the years since we graduated. This friend of ours and his wife share a hobby farm with his folks and kindly asked if we would like to bring our son over to visit the lambs and calves that arrived this spring.

The day turned out to be quite chilly and rainy, but we all put on coats and boots and headed out to see the babies. First, we went to the barn where the sheep and lambs were plentiful. My son's first reaction was to pinch his nose from the "farm smell" in the air. Classic. And then he very quickly enjoyed petting the soft lambs.

We then headed out to see the calves. One was only two hours old at the time, and I was amazed at how well it stood for being so brand new. We were advised to stay back a bit as the cows tend to be quite protective of their young, and so my husband and I had a good grip on our boy's hand (as he does not yet possess much fear of animals.)

Before heading in for a wonderful dinner, we made one last stop back through the barn, this time with the opportunity for my son to sit on the tractor. This was by far his favorite part of the tour. We did not find it easy to get him back down after sitting in such a special seat.

We are so thankful for the friendships that my husband and I have developed over the years and are so glad to still see these people with whom have shared some great experiences.

Sincerely,
Abi
