Butterfly Exhibit

Dear Reader,

As with each spring, we enjoyed the annual arrival of butterflies at our local garden and sculpture park. The butterflies are such a hit with our son. He's entirely interested by the chrysalis stage, and the amazing volunteers at the gardens are so helpful in encouraging that curiosity.

The butterflies are housed in a lovely conservatory full of light and warmth. During springtime, what a treat it is to feel the warmth and humidity of this space during the yet chilly days outside. I try to treat my time there as a little vacationing (except, of course, I am trying to keep pace with a busy little boy.)

Each year the gardens provide a guidebook which lists the various species of butterflies found in the conservatory. We save ours each year, and my son likes to pretend that they are his "field journal" from his adventures.

This year the highlight for me (and perhaps my son as well) has been the introduction of some lovely birds to the space. In prior years, the quails in the conservatory are always such a sweet bunch to watch. This year, along with these lovely quails, the canaries and other birds were exceptional to watch. This exhibit just keeps getting better.

We made work of taking both of my son's grandmothers to this exhibit (as I think we have annually since his arrival), and this year we even squeezed in a trip with his aunt and cousin. I so enjoy that this has become such a wonderful tradition for spring.

Sincerely,
Abi
